AFTERGLOW
by: Leny Lao
The sun silhouetted amid the mauve sunset
Making a run-around to delay its anticipated
evanescence
Soon it will be dark, and out of one's vision
Crickets will sing and thus hoots owls.
Not even a trace of stars above the sky
But sleepy glow-worms shed their lights,
Sharing what they can offer to the night,
Giving warmth reflecting from the inside.
And there "she" is ...
Trancidly adept in a world of emptiness
Momentarily renouncing her existence
Affecting the uppermost level of her being
Deaden by the chaos in her brain.
Her long hair tousled by the October wind
Cold soft air pilfering sweet kisses on her skin,
But all of these pure endearment of nature,
Goes deaf beyond recognition.
Making a run-around to delay its anticipated
evanescence
Soon it will be dark, and out of one's vision
Crickets will sing and thus hoots owls.
Not even a trace of stars above the sky
But sleepy glow-worms shed their lights,
Sharing what they can offer to the night,
Giving warmth reflecting from the inside.
And there "she" is ...
Trancidly adept in a world of emptiness

But all of these pure endearment of nature,
Goes deaf beyond recognition.
